The Gallery ANTICHITA' VIVA was founded in 1989 by Marcello Viva.
Marcello Viva was educated at Turin University in the disciplines of Philosophy, Art and History, with a predilection for the 800s and 900s Aesthetics,
after he devoted himself to the art market with the same passion he had for his studies.

He has never made any secret of the difficulty of this profession, which is based within the raptures of Aesthetic Contemplation of the Connoisseur and the disenchantment of the reality of the business.
With hardly any knowledge of the world of Art, unscrupulous money - markers, whose judgement is based upon criteria unrelated to the Aesthetic experience has led to the exclusive predominance of the business world.
As Federico Zeri noticed, this had produced in its most obvious aspects the terrible crisis in American museums which chaotically sold an important part of their collections purely for speculative and financial aims.
Bringing together the Work of Art and the Aesthetics experience, Marcello Viva has understood his commitment to the Art market as a request for a dialogue on beauty (a kind of platonic Symposium) addressed to antique dealers and collectors throughout the world.
Marcello Viva takes part in the most important antiques exhibitions in Italy, he is member of FIMA (Italian Federation of Art Dealers), Union Art Dealers of old Milan and of the C.I.N.O.A. (Confederation International des Negociants en Ouvres d'Art).
He writes reports and makes valuations of old paintings and of the Italian '800s and '900s; his attention is painted to italian art and painting from XVII to XX century.

The study of "Arte Viva" also offers a new service: by order of ordinary citizens who intend to put their collection up for auction, Marcello Viva will personally look after all stages of sale of art works in the main Auction Houses in Italy and abroad, advising in the sellers' interests.
